Protect the area around Kruger National Park from deforestation through the implementation of solar powered cookers.
- 300 parabolic solar dishes have been purchased
- 213 have gone out into the homes
- 10+ enterprises have been set up and headed by local individuals
The Beyond Carbon-SunFire collaboration continues its excellent work of educating and providing households with clean energy cooking technology. Including solar cookers, fuel efficient smokeless wood burning stoves and heat retained bags.
Together this combination of clean cooking technology provides the poorest of the poor with the world’s most affordable and most enviro-economically friendly way to reduce their cooking costs. This project uses carbon finance to reduce the cost of each technology to end users and adds additional benefits by creating a network of energy entrepreneurs that sell clean cooking technology into their own communities.
This project continues to go from strength to strength and has placed another 40 clean energy cookers into households in the past few months. SunFire Solutions is currently on another drive to develop the entrepreneurial skills of key individuals within communities around the Kruger National Park, a highly sensitive and biologically rich part of the world.
SunFire looks forward to increasing job creation opportunities offering communities previously unheard of renewable energy technology with the support of Beyond Carbon and partners.
